Terms & Conditions

The rules that govern your use of racinginthewoods.com and your registration for any Racing In The Woods / US MTB Series event.

Last updated: September 1, 2026

1.Acceptance of Terms

These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of racinginthewoods.com (the "Site"), operated by Racing In The Woods Inc. ("Racing In The Woods," "we," "us," or "our"), as well as your registration for any race, series, or event we organize, including the US MTB Series (collectively, "Events").

By visiting the Site, registering for an Event, or opting in to receive text messages or email communications from us, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site or register for an Event.

2.Race Registration, Fees & Payments

Event registration is completed through the online registration form for each race. You must provide accurate, current information, including your legal name, date of birth (where required for category eligibility), contact information, and emergency contact.

  • Entry fees are due in full at the time of registration and are processed through our secure online payment provider.
  • Race categories, entry fees, and payout structures for each series are published on our Rules & Policies page and are subject to change season to season.
  • Registering for an Event on behalf of a minor confirms that you are the minor's parent or legal guardian and that you accept these Terms, the liability waiver, and all applicable rules on the minor's behalf.
  • We reserve the right to decline or cancel any registration, including for safety, capacity, or eligibility reasons, with a refund issued per our refund policy below.

3.Cancellations & Refunds

Racing In The Woods maintains a no-refund policy for all series and events, with a narrow exception for events that are cancelled outright and cannot be rescheduled. The full policy — including how cancellation refunds are processed and how you'll be notified — is published on our Rules & Policies page.

Read the full policy

See our complete No Refund Policy for details on cancellations, weather delays, and rescheduling.

4.Assumption of Risk & Liability Waiver

Mountain bike racing is an inherently dangerous activity that carries a risk of serious injury, permanent disability, or death, as well as damage to property and equipment. By registering for an Event, you acknowledge and voluntarily accept these risks.

This page is not a substitute for a liability waiver. All participants (or a parent/legal guardian, for minors) are required to read and sign a separate liability release and assumption of risk waiver before competing in any Event. Registration is not complete, and you may not be permitted to start, until that waiver is signed.

5.Text Message (SMS) Program Terms

Racing In The Woods offers an optional text messaging program to keep registered racers informed about their events.

What you're signing up for

  • By checking the SMS opt-in box during online race registration, you consent to receive automated text messages from Racing In The Woods related to your registration, including registration confirmations, event reminders, and race-day logistics updates (weather delays, start-time changes, venue notes), as well as occasional promotional messages about upcoming races and series announcements.
  • Message frequency varies based on your race schedule and event activity — typically a handful of messages around each event you're registered for.
  • Message and data rates may apply. Check with your mobile carrier for details on your plan.
  • Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of registering for any Event or purchase. You can register without opting in to SMS.
  • Reply STOP at any time to unsubscribe from all messages. Reply HELP for help, or contact us at racinginthewoods@gmail.com.
  • Supported carriers include AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, and most major US carriers. Racing In The Woods and our carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

6.Website Use & User Conduct

You agree to use the Site only for lawful purposes. You may not:

  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Site, its servers, or any connected database.
  • Submit false information during registration or on any form on the Site.
  • Use automated means (bots, scrapers) to access or collect data from the Site without our written permission.
  • Post or transmit any content that is unlawful, harassing, defamatory, or infringes on another party's rights.

7.Intellectual Property

All content on the Site — including the Racing In The Woods and US MTB Series names, logos, race photography, course maps, and written content — is owned by Racing In The Woods Inc. or its licensors and is protected by copyright and trademark law. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from this content without our prior written consent, except for personal, non-commercial use (e.g., sharing a results link).

Photos and video taken at our Events may feature participants and spectators. By attending an Event, you grant Racing In The Woods a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use such images for promotional purposes across our website, social media, and marketing materials.

9.Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

The Site and all Event information are provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. While we make reasonable efforts to keep race schedules, results, and rules accurate and current, we do not guarantee the accuracy or completeness of any information on the Site.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Racing In The Woods Inc., its officers, employees, volunteers, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Site or participation in an Event, beyond what is addressed in the separate liability waiver you sign for each Event.

10.Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes arising under these Terms will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in North Carolina.

11.Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in our events, services, or legal requirements. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of the Site or registration for an Event after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
